Victory!!

Victory for California!

What an exciting day for the world today! yes, not just the gay community, but the world!!! Today, a judge overturned Prop 8, Walker ruled that Proposition 8 is "unconstitutional under both the due process and equal protection clauses." Amen to that!

This issue is something I've always been very passionate about and I'm very happy Prop 8 got overturned! My 1st year of college (speech class) we were asked to pick a topic...the point was to persuade the audience in our favor! I picked same-sex marriage and I will always remember the day i did my speech because it was so meaningful to me. After class was over, a couple of people said to me that my speech made them change their outlook on the opinions they originally had on same-sex marriage and just knowing that my words impacted others made me really proud! It' s not about whether or not you agree with same-sex marriage people!...it's about equality!!!

A few months ago, I was lucky enough to participate in the NOH8 campaign and it's something that I'm very proud of! In honor of this day, I have posted my NOH8 picture and ask that every single one of you reading this right now, ask yourself, "Do I want equality in this world?"... I think that's something we all want!

Here's the full conclusion by Judge Walker:

"Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license. Indeed, the evidence shows Proposition 8 does nothing more than enshrine in the California Constitution the notion that opposite sex couples are superior to same-sex couples. Because California has no interest in discriminating against gay men and lesbians, and because Proposition 8 prevents California from fulfilling its constitutional obligation to provide marriages on an equal basis, the court concludes that Proposition 8 is unconstitutional."
